The Forks, Maine: A Historic Adventure Hub

The Forks, Maine is a place where history and adventure intertwine seamlessly. This unique area, where the Dead River and the Kennebec River converge, has long been a gateway to the wilds of Maine. The Forks played a significant role in the lumbering era, serving as a key point for log drives down the powerful rivers. Today, it stands as a testament to Maine’s rugged past while offering modern-day adventurers a rich tapestry of activities to explore. Explore the historic Old Canada Road National Scenic Byway, hike the same trails once used by loggers, and immerse yourself in the stories of a bygone era that still echo through the forests and waterways.

Located on historic Troutdale Road, Lake Moxie Camps sits along the old Somerset Railroad line, which once served Kennebec River communities and extended to a grand Victorian-era hotel on Moosehead Lake. Lake Moxie Station became the jumping-off point for sporting camps and remote destinations north along the current U.S. Route 201, stretching all the way up to The Forks, Lake Parlin, and Upper Enchanted Township.
